Net Neutrality

Dave
This isn't a machinima related post, and really not even a game related post, but it's a post I feel absolutely obligated to make.

AT&T Wireless Services has blocked access to the /b/ and /r9k/ boards of 4chan.org for several U.S. cities, and customer service reps have confirmed that it's not an error; they have indeed blocked access intentionally.

You may not care about 4chan. A lot of people feel the internet would be a better place without it. I could care less either way. What I do care about is some company deciding FOR ME what I can do on the internet.

The quotes at the top of the page here pretty much sum up my feelings.

If you care about net neutrality, even if you're not an AT&T member, let them know that they've fucked up. If you don't care about 4chan, do it anyway, because the next day it could be penny-arcade or xkcd or youtube or even your favorite machinima website: apt-t.com.

In a way, this is the first real battle in the net neutrality war. Thankfully, AT&T declared that war on the most powerful force on the internet: /b/tards.

Podcast 11: Black in Back... wait, that isn't right.

Dave

It seems our podcast does return today.
With Skitch and Jacob with us here online.
Phil as usual's pretty fucking Gay,
his PSP wasting all of our time.

Discussions on the games of Lucasarts
and of the oldest Bible ever known.
A diatribe on plain old shopping carts
a lie, but yes to Indiana Jones.

A tesseract does haunt Dave in his dreams.
A beach trip for one Skitch, he did enjoy.
More wow for Jacob, usual it seems.
Phil's comments consume all of the world's Joy.

A sonnet on a podcast you have read
and Wendy's chicken nuggets keep you fed.

Cool million

Philly
Well it seems that my show "Flatliners" has been viewed almost 1 million times on Youtube. If you haven't seen it yet make sure to give it a watch and discuss it in the forums. Im pretty proud of that show (despite the fact that I wrote the script in an afternoon), and I plan on making a sequel in the near future once episode 10 of DWMM comes out (it is coming out, trust me).

Also we are recording the podcast today, so it will be ready for your listening pleasure this Wednesday.

In lieu of this week's podcast...

Dave
I have some observations on gaming in the past week. Considering Phil's "article" was a paragraph long, I thought I would share them.

I finally played Neverwinter Nights 2. The narrator at the end sounded like a modern day news reporter. I don't want fucking Peter Jennings telling me what's going on in Faerun. Besides that it was most enjoyable, going to run it again as an evil character to see how much other possibility there is, but knowing Bioware, it should be good. All of it makes me look forward to The Old Republic even more.

It's also got a great toolset that will make for some interesting machinima, I think. Gonna try to work with Phil and see what's possible. The lighting system is beautiful though, and with the customizability of the module editor, I think it has some potential.

In the game news world, Blizzard has confirmed that there will be no LAN support for Starcraft 2. I was already peeved at the three seperate games thing, but this is just ridiculous. Some of my fondest memories are of Starcraft at LAN parties before the high speed internet we all take for granted was even a shimmering shadow on the web horizon. Hell, it was really the only way to play. Dial-up with online games was beyond meh, so we got 8 people together, hooked up to a hub, and rocked some face in space. I don't care, Blizzard, how much you want to push Battle.net in this World of Warcraft era, but don't make your games less playable. Then again, when was the last time anyone actually went to a LAN party since WoW came out?

There WILL be a podcast next week, even if it just ends up being me talking alone and monotone into my microphone for an hour. Until then, keep on rocking in the free world.

Forums

skitch
HOLY CRAP sorry about that folks, that was totally my fault. Luckily we hadn't left yet, so I could fix it. I was playing around with stuff, changed one thing and not another. They're back up now though, was an easy fix, at least.

My apologies, for real.

Forum Issues

Dave
Somethings up with the forums, and I have no idea what the problem is. Skitch unfortunately just left for a 4th of July Beach Trip. Once he's back I'm sure he'll figure it out in an instant, but until then we're kinda screwed. My apologies to everyone. Feel free to chat with eachother through the comments on this post.
