![]() Dave | Check it out! It's a new apt-t machinima, and despite the fact that it's not DWMM10, I'm super happy with it. Phil did a great job turning my "HALO"ween script into reality, or at least machinimality. Skitch was great and machinimated for us, and Jonathan Coulton provided music for us thanks to the wonders of Creative Commons. So yeah, Check it out! |
| 28 Oct 2009 05:11 pm | Dude, Where's my Podcast? |
![]() Dave | Seriously, where is it? I don't even know. That's a lie. I do know. It doesn't exist because we here at apt-t are dumb. Like really dumb. You don't even know how dumb we are. Okay you know how dumb Phil is, and you know that Chris was pretty dumb for leaving, but Chris isn't technically here at apt-t and Phil... is Phil. So yeah. No podcast this week. We'll be back next week. I can however safely announce that we have Halloween (or is it Haloween) special machinima coming out in the very very near future, as well as a bunch of machinima and editing related tutorial videos coming out in november. I know, I know. "MAKE 10" "WHY WONT U MAEK 10?" "Y DO U GUSY KEP WASTEING TIEM ON STUF THATS NOT 10?" That's a good question. Well, two good questions and one statement. Well, two poorly spelled questions and a statement that would be technically proper if it included some sort of punctuation. Either way, I'll ask Phil for you. |

![]() Dave | ![]() We're back, bitches, and mediocre-er than ever. After a week of people bitching out and various illnesses and maladies we finally got together to bullshit for an hour for your enjoyment. Is Skitch a member of the Video Game Industry? Does Phil know what a simile is? Should we all start calling great female writers "Felicia Fey?" There's really no way to find out. We don't go in to great detail on any of those. Ok, you could probably guess ahead of time that Phil didn't know what a simile is, but whatevs. Listen to the podcast. Or watch 28 Below. One of the two. Or both of the two. To be honest I don't really care what you do. As long as you do it awesomely. |
| 15 Oct 2009 03:31 pm | Switchgame.com |
![]() Dave | I discovered this site through a friend a few minutes ago, and after reading several news articles and looking at the site itself, I've found it to be pretty fucking amazing. Essentially it's a giant hub where gamers can get together and buy/sell/trade their video games. Each exchange has a small service fee attached, but what's cool is that the service fee is not only far less than you'd end up paying in lost money at gamestop, but a portion of the fee actually goes to the game developers, so that they get to cash in on the secondary market. Gameswitch gets money to operate, We get money from not being ripped off on our used game trade ins, and the developers get money to keep making games. It's a brilliant business concept for everyone except the people exploiting the secondary market, i.e. Gamestop. It's pretty much the ballinist shit ever, and all of you should check it out. |

![]() Dave | I've still got some major wisdom tooth pain, and Phil's come down with the flu, so that's how it goes. Time for me to take some ibuprofen and crash. |

| 02 Oct 2009 08:38 pm | Five Dollar Game Reviews |
![]() Dave | With only 2 days left on this weeks list of 5 dollar games over at Direct2Drive, I figured I'd let you guys know my thoughts on some of them. I picked up DEFENSE GRID, COGS, and Bridge Construction set, and found all three of them to be well worth 5 (american) bucks. Defense Grid, the same as the XBOX Arcade game, is a variation on the Tower Defense Genre, and one I'm super pleased with. Plenty of replayability if you want to gold star all the levels, good variation, and plenty of game types available. COGS is a puzzle game centered around those old tile puzzles where you have one open tile and have to move everything around to get it in the right place. The difference is that there's another layer of puzzle solving involved in the fact that on each tile are pipes and cogs that you need to position correctly to get whatever machine you're working on to work. Some of them take it a step further and move the puzzles into 3d land. It's super crazy, and crazy awesome, all up until the point where you just quit caring because the puzzles get dumb. Bridge Construction Set is unintuitive and not very pretty. But once you figure it out, it's fun as fuck. Every level can be solved in numerous different ways, and free play mode let's you do some crazy ass shit. One of the hard levels has you building a kilometer long suspension bridge on what looks like a gigantic budget... until you get "almost" done and run out of money. Of the three I played I most definitely suggest Defense Grid as a #1 buy. After that would come Bridge Construction Set and lastly COGS. Then again, I'm pretty much the target demographic for all three of these games, and they're all very niche. Your mileage may vary, but my mileage has been filled to the brim with cheap enjoyment. |
